All I Want For Christmas

Planning services and sermons can be challenging. The spigot of creativity has to be opened up often and wide. And staying fresh in my Bible reading and prayer are critical. And sometimes, in the pursuit of the next thing to preach on, I remember a year ago. And then I begin to remember that we have traditions that we subconsciously established.

We have a Sunday after Christmas tradition of preaching “All I Want For Christmas.” It’s a message of focus. It’s a message of purpose. It’s a message to help us look to the next year and think what we would like to have happen this time next year. And I am going to present three key things that I think God wants our church to accomplish next year. And at the end of the service, as is our tradition, we will hand out cards and envelopes for individuals to write down their personal goals. And then we will give them back to them next year at Christmas to let them see how they did. If God has a plan for each of us, then surely we can dream and think about what are those plans!!!!
